National Day of Unplugging

I love that Good Friday has been given this National Day of recognition to reflect and Unplug.  Okay, so reflect and unplug after you read this article please (hehehe).

Actually, I'm loving the idea of becoming unplugged for the day...to bad I'm working all day today, but after that...its on, well except for having to keep my cell on to track my pack of teens (don't laugh my 2nd is now dating too).

Here is a Studio J layout (yes I get the irony of an online layout being featured on Nat'l Day of Unplugging), that shows my family spending some unplugged time.
This paper pack is available online only in Studio J!!!

I want you to check out the bottom left corner.  That photo of Chutes & Ladders was downloaded for free from Google Images.  Its also TWO separate photowells with the same photo dropped into booth wells, increased in matching sizes and then aligned.  Studio J gives you the unique tool of shadow/overlaying the photos so they precisely line up.

Now  go  UNPLUG, play with family...then Satuday log onto Heatherplotzke.ctmh.com and Studio J your photos from all that fun!!!!!!!!!!

The Easter Bunny - The Real History

Okay, its that time again, the time as a mother I dread...time to go see the Easter Bunny.  Mind you its not like I don't like the Bunny its just the curse that happens each year.

I have five fearless children.  Santa has never scared them.  6ft tall Mickey Mouse, NO problem.  Giant Bunny with large bow is guaranteed to freak someone out everytime!  Avery, who is 15 begged to not got this year, not because its uncool, because he STILL doesn't want to go near the bunny!!!!

So it happened again this year.  Yesterday my 3 year old started asking to go see the Bunny by 6:30 am, something I have been putting off for awhile, by the hundredth time she asked though I wavered knowing this was my only day off to take them I agreed.  After school, faces washed, and hair brushed my motley little crew headed to the dangers of the mall to excitedly meet the Bunny.  After waiting for about 10 mins out he came and then it happened.  As my kids rushed up the little picket fenced bridge in smiles, the bunny attempted to help Kennedy onto his lap.  BIG MISTAKE.  Back over the bridge with blood curdling screams...Soooooo now that we're dressed up, we're meaning them, and we've stood in line after she begged, paid our money to get the photo op for Daddy (who is somewhere laughing knowing this is happening to me), we're screaming.

You can see by the photo how we solved this situation, after bribes of "we'll go to the play place NEXT".  This is as close as I could push the child into the photo frame while she is pushing the other way.   Who knew a three yr old was that strong!

So if you're wondering why I'm sharing this all with you.  Above will be my journalling for my layout this year.  Although year after year we try to fake that perfect holiday memory for our scrapbooks.  This crazy, self inflicted disaster is my Easter memory.  Each year they beg, each year I take them, each year I'm again that mom at the mall with crying kids.  THAT's something I want them to remember...specially when years from now THEIR kids do this to them so they can send "grandma" a photo!

Write the REAL history! Not the one you wish would have happened.

More Express Collection easy finished layouts by Studio J

I have a new Studio J Express Collection layouts that I wanted to share (okay let's face it show off -- who doesn't like showing off their kids' photos).

Just like before all I had to do to complete this layout was drop in my photos and journalling.

When I mentioned in earlier posts that there is still room for personalization using Express Collections this layout of  offered the perfect avenue for it.  The crossword My Stickease on the left page was ideal for adding journalling text over top.  I was thrilled with the effect and fun play on titling.

Reminder this St Pat's Day!

Here is my Happy St Pat's Day reminder!  I wanted to remind everyone, as well as myself why we started wanting to preserve our memories in the first place.  These photos were taken a few years and in looking through them it reminded me of why St Pat's Day is my favorite day.  Why I SCRAPBOOK!

St Pat's Day was my Dad's favorite day every year.  He told me once along time ago, that St Pat's Day was his favorite day because it was a day to be happy for no other reason than to just be happy!

So many days we spend doing what we "have to do", so many days, so many holidays we try to force that "perfect" day.  There is no such day.  So in St Pat's Day, we always have a reason, to just have fun and be happy.

So my wish for you is to remember this, not just today, enjoy each second.  If you don't grab those fleeting moments NO amount of staged family photos, and perfectly accessorized layouts will make up what is missing in those layouts; SHEER HAPPINESS!

My Creation - Cubby Ready to Rock St Pat's Day

Its time for my favorite holiday!  St Pat's Day.  I wanted to create some home decor this year that would be modern and grown up view of the day.  I decided to go big and showcase the holiday with our My Creations - Cubby boxes.  This way I had 25 different little pieces of art.  I am thrilled with results.

Chantilly Paper packs worked perfectly to create the look I was going for.

To create the gold coins, I inked pigment ink all over a piece of cardstock and gold heat embossed over it.  Next took a simple office paper punch and punched the circles, then just layered them.

To create these fast clovers, I punched hearts out of sanded cardstock (sand 1st so much easier).  Then glued down 1st heart and for the second (top layer) I creased in the middle and only glued on the crease to give it dimension.  Love how it turned out.

I had SO MUCH FUN with this project.  Leave me a comment, I'd love to hear what you think!

Later Sk8r WOTG - Bonus Layout

Yesterday I showed you the 1st layout from the Later Sk8r WOTG, today I wanted to show you what I did with the bonus layout!

To match the splattered look of the B&T paper, I took my pigment inks and dragged them across the cardstock.  I love of the pigment inks color is so rich.  See how well the Antique white shows up on the green papers.  I did heat set (ran my heat gun quickly over the inked area), to help it dry the color quickly.

I used dimensional letters for US, and used my Cricut to just the rest of the title.

These are some of my favorite pictures lately.  My favorite photos, and things to scrapbook are the day to day craziness of our lives.  Parker's picture here shows it all.

Girls Rule - Later Sk8r WOTG

Workshops On The Go® Later Sk8r Scrapbooking Kit

I love the colors of this paper packet!  Its such so much fun.  I used this workshop on the go to showcase my daughter's baseball highlights.  I loved it because in the paper it says "boys" in the print and my daughter is all about proving that girls rule, hence the title!  So the paper theme fit perfectly into that mood.

Check back tomorrow to see what I did on the 2nd layout of the WOTG kit.

Thanks as a Military Mom and Spouse

As a military mom and spouse I wanted to Thanks all the card makers who donate cards to different organizations around the country that send blank cards to our Troops!!!!!!!!!

My 15 yr-old got a birthday card from his Dad today and after he carefully read every word bringing a tear to my eyes, after reading it he flipped the card over (yup he's a crafter's kid lol).  He looked at me and said "you didn't make this."; knowing my initials weren't on the back. He flipped back to the front and said "did you mail Dad stuff and HE made me a card???"  Mind you my husband is deployed, and not exactly somewhere which provides a crafting area lol, yet this child was serious!

When I explained to him that people hand make the cards and send them overseas for Troops to send their families.  He was very, very impressed stating "that is SO COOL they would spend the time do that".  Anyone that's familiar with teenage boys, knows that SO COOL is the ultimate compliment.

So I wanted to send out my own thank you to card makers everywhere, THANK YOU!

Surf's Up Star

I took our My Creation - Star ($9.95) and decided to decorate it for some summer fun.  I used Surf's Up Paper, along with our burlap ribbon. I was thrilled with how sharp the burlap looked.

I may go back and kick this up a notch with embellishments, but for right now I'm happy with the clean lines.

Canvas WOTG Art

Look at all the fun goodies that come along with the new Canvas Workshop On The GO (WOTG)!  Everything you need to create a magical piece of art anyone would be proud to display comes with your kit.  What I loved when assembling mine was that the accessories come in two totally different color combinations so you will be sure to make your canvas match your memories.  I would say the kit took me just under an hour to complete and I'm thrilled with the results.

Tomorrow tune back in and I will be posting the fun layout I did using all the left over accessories!
