Vinyl made easy using Cricut Artiste by Close To My Heart

Vinyl designs are all the rage right now from car window signs to home decor. At a recent team meeting Candance Romano showed how easy cutting vinyl on your Cricut can be.  I made this cute drinking cup from myself to show of my love for Studio J using the Artiste cartridge.

I have since come home and bought a variety package of 12x12 vinyl from Amazon.com; ebay also had some good pricing. The cup came from the dollar tree.

Now here is the cutting info you will need (Thanks Dawn and Dana for taking such good notes):
  • set your blade to 6
  • set your speed to 3
  • set your pressure to 3
Easy-peasy!  Since my cup is hand washable I have the urge to Liquid Glass some sparkles on the crown, hmmm!

Fall crafts? What's your game plan

So here it is I'm just starting to get used to the idea that Summer is ending, school has started and WHAM!  Holiday rush is starting.  My 6 yr-old told me tonight that Halloween is in 51 days and we should start decorating soon and what was I making them to wear this year (homemade costumes each year seemed like such a great idea as a mother of one, even two children ... now that we are at five what was I thinking!?!?).

It also seems that they are counting down to Christmas already asking me when they should have their lists done by and can we start making holiday crafts.  OMG!  Already...I still think its shorts and sprinkler weather although no more white shoes until Spring.  But really?

How about you????  Have you started your fall/winter crafting mode yet?  If yes what are you working on?

Stickers over and over and over and over

One benefit of Studio J is using My Stickease over and over and over and over....get the idea!?!?!  You can also resize the Stickease in a range from 25% to 200%!  Like a photo, Studio J will tell you when the quality of the Stickease is getting grainy by having the Green to Yellow to Red scale next to the image while you are changing sizes.

Some of the benefits of multiple Stickeases are that you design your own papers by layering Stickease over and entire area.  Remember you can also crop Stickease and layer different Stickease too.

Oops turns into Fab!

I bought a cute wine bottle stopper for my friend's birthday several months before and had it hidden away.  When I went to the closet to wrap it a week before its delivery date I realized the semi-cute little picture had started to peel away in the humidity.  Oh no, now what to I do?!?!

In a flash I went onto facebook, pulled up this beautiful picture of Jan and her husband and printed it off to the size of the square stopper.  Next grabbed my trusty Liquid Glass (even my hubby knows this is the go to must have staple supply of an emergency crafter) and glued the photo down then filled in the the remainder of the frame with Liquid Glass until it was completely level with the top; making sure to pop any air bubbles along the way.  Be sure to let this dry overnight minimum, 24 hrs before solid.  I hit the level this time on the 1st try, but if after it hardened it looks sunken or not quite level you can easily apply another layer of L.G., after the next 24 hrs you will never know it was more than one layer as they meld and appear as one solid finish.

After all was said and done, I super wish I had bought more of these because I (and Jan) were thrilled with the results.  I want one now too!
