Happy Haunting using Studio J and Zippidee

Okay if I hadn't told you that this was the Disney styled ZIPPIDEE papers would you have guessed???  It is!  I wanted to have my papers keep the Disney theme of the layout, yet it needed to be Halloween colors....you say how can that be?  EASY with Studio J.  I just changed the individual color of the B&T papers to match the colors I had in mind.  Orange and Black were easy choices, and I choose this shade of purple to match Magician Mickey's outfit!  TRY IT NOW FREE via STUDIO J on my website ctmh.com/heatherplotzke.

HAPPY HAUNTING!

Liebster Blog Award!

WOW!  I'm SO HONORED to be nominated for a "beloved blog" award by Corina Mitchell and her Mycreativeink.org blog.  She called me and my Blog AMAZING and I hope I can live up to that build up:) Liebster is a German word that means beloved or favorite. This award is only for blogs with fewer than 200 followers, so up-and-coming bloggers are recognized for their creative works!
Here are the rules to accept this award:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award and rules on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
5. And most of all - have fun!

Now for my 5 picks:
1. Corina Mitchell
One word: Rock-Star
2. Dawn Heuft
One word: Instruction-packed
3. Dana Simone-Kurtz
One word: Creative-genious
4. Kay Pekin
One word: Inspirational
5. Michelle Nist
One word: Forward-thinking

Okay so my One word, is more like TWO; but anyone that knows me knows that I can never just use one word.

Spooky Wine Bottles

For my October workshop we made these super spooky cute wine bottles.  This was also my donation item to the Operation Smile Auction at Leadershare.

  •  The bottles were spray painted in black flat paint.
  • the wraps around the bottle are Kraft paper, but into strips and while sprinkled wet with water, krinkled repeatedly (let dry overnight)
  • The paper rosettes were scored every 3/16's and were done on 11x2.5" papers.
  • For added depth the area around the skull was sponged with Grey flannel to make the white pop.
  • The skull also is painted over in our clear gel sparkle (allow to dry min. 1 hr)
  • Finishing touches included, large rhinestone added to eye and on the neck of the bottle.  Ribbon tied around wrap
  • Assembled to the bottle using hot glue
Project greatly inspired (and rosettes learned from) Corina Mitchell.

Welcome Zavior Roger layout

Using Wonderland papers, I made this layout showing off how adorable my new Grand-nephew Zavior is!
I love this layout, featuring my Brother's First Grandchild!  If you ever wonder how low quality images turn out when downloaded from Facebook...here you go.  All of these photos were yellowish/red on Studio J.  I'm very happy with how they printed out.

This layout was one of five that CTMH's Studio J Art Studio projects designed for Leadershare (theirs' was in shades of pink) that I adapted to my pictures.  I was excited at Leadershare when they were showing off artwork of people's layouts on the big convention screens to see Zavior up on the screens.

S'more Trick & Treat Bag

Using Mischief papers and my Art Philosophy Cartridge I made this fun S'more Kit, inspired by an Easter verson from years ago by Dawn Heuft.

The spider comes from a punched image, but instead of gluing down the image we took the cardstock it was punched from and used it like a template, sponging white daisy ink in it.   We heat set the white ink so it wouldn't smear with a heat gun.

My Halloween Card featuring Studio J .jpgs

For my October workshop I used Studio J to create a Halloween Layout. I am also VERY EXCITED to announce that my cards won the consultant card contest at CTMH's San Diego Leadershare!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it surprise you to know that the paper used here is Zippidee, the antique Disney-styled papers.  I changed the coloring quickly and easily using the tools in Studio J.
When I was happy with how my layouts looked, I added them to my Studio J cart as .JPG's only for $3.00, LOVE this feature of being a Member! Then once I downloaded the pictures to my laptop I printed them out in 4x4 size on 4x6 photo paper.
I used my Art Philosophy CTMH Cricut Cartridge to make the card bases on black cardstock, the edges are distressed (and the inside stamped) with Daisy White ink.  On each of the two card designs I printed 2 copies of the photo, glueing 1 directly to the card and cutting up the 2nd (BOO and the diamond flares) and adhering them with pop dot foam to give some dimension.  I also adhered our Itty Bitty Clear Rhinestones to the card where on my layout "brads" had been placed.
I would Love to SHOW YOU HOW TO USE STUDIO J!  Click on over to start your FREE experience today at ctmh.com/heatherplotzke

Favorite reason about being a CTMH Consultant

When asked why I joined CTMH (Close To My Heart) over five years ago, I have several answers I could easily rattle off:
  1. I LOVE THE PRODUCT, and bought so often my former consultant always teases that I paid for her daughter's freshmen year in college.
  2. I LOVE THE DISCOUNT I receive as a consultant on my own purchases (for better explanation on this one see #1)
  3. I LOVE BEING ABLE TO ACCESS all the Corporate pre-designed projects and the Consultant Art and Template Bulletin Boards.  Our brother and sister scrappers love to share their ideas!
  4. I get to go on "Business Trips" with other addicted, obsessive scrappers that understand the excitement of why a new ruler with sewing alignment holes that no meer husband can ever comprehend.
Best reason of ALL, this was the final selling point that pushed me over the edge to Sign up.  Was the Community atmosphere being a consultant offered.  I am a Marine wife, had just moved to California and knew NO ONE.  My former consultant did some research and found that another group of Sister-consultants were having bi-monthly meetings close to me that if I signed up I could attend.  INSTANT COMMUNITY of FRIENDS.  These special ladies welcomed me with open arms and I signed up immediately!!!!

I would LOVE to have YOU join us and share our passion.  October offers extra special savings for anyone joining this month, you will receive a FREE add on kit when you join retail valued at up to $130.  So Click on over to ctmh.com/heatherplotzke  today to join my team, better yet to become friends!

Pre-K Studio J layouts.

I did this layout about my daughter's preschool class, remember to take pictures of items in and around your event for perspective. Later they will tell the story along with seeing cute photos of your family, etc. I love the cubbie photos and my Sara Beth's artwork. By photographing her art, I won't have to save each individual masterpiece! ctmh.com/heatherplotzke

Take a look at the crayons, those are multiple My Stickease with their size reduced.  To make them even and straight, along with the ribbon knots I place on top, I highlighted each (while Holding down the shift key) and used the edit mode.  With them all highlighted you get to edit/align them as a group, I LOVE this tool!

recycled mini-paint palettes

So you are wondering why I have a picture of these little containers that your memory cards come in I'm betting.  Well, being the horder I am, I just couldn't throw these away each time I get them thinking they'll be needed for something.  This week I figured out the PERFECT use!  Ever need a small paint palette?  Something to mix reinker/paint in? or something to just put reinker into so you can distress direct with it?  These little containers are PERFECT for that.

How about using it to put a glob of our glitter gels (that now come in a variety of colors including sparkly red) and using a paint brush to brush it onto your decorative piece.  I love how that effect turns out.
