So I officially became a Grandmother a three nights ago, and as much as I love my five children (and they are truly the center of my Universe) this baby I've never met has 100% stolen my heart. Most people that know me, joking know that I am not the most emotional and certainly not a huggy kind of person. The last few days, with each phone call (my son lives in on the opposite side of the country), every texted photo, and each facetime call I end up so over-whelmed with joy and emotion for this precious baby and for pride at the look my son's eyes when he looks at her. Then I'm in tears. I just stare at their photos.
Today during our facetime chat I was practicing with her how to say "Grandma", while I was asking her what she wanted for Christmas. I promised it would be our secret from Grandpa if she'd say my name. We could get a pony or maybe a pretty car lol! Her Mom said she'd make sure they'd practice regularly have my son said that he thought I might not be kidding.
So for all you new Grandmas and Grandpas out there, and Moms and Dads remember to take photos ever second because like with our own kids, the time was gone with a blink of an eye. Also remember to balance that though with being in the moment. I realized I when the kids were younger I was always so busy trying to record their memories, I was often only part of them through the lens of a camera.
