Huntington Frame inspired by a card

Using Huntington Papers and the NEW Cricut Artbooking my dear friend Gail Vought designed this project as a card for a kit swap we did.  I decided that her idea was far too cute to share just once as a card. So I decided to slide the "Card base" inside a dollar tree plastic stand alone frame and then liquid glass the cricut cut flowers in the same location just on top of the frame.  That way I can slide photos in and out and am thrilled with the outcome!  Thanks Gail for the absolute wonderful project!

Cricut Artbooking Laughing Lola Love

CTMH's newest Cricut Cartridge system Artbooking is amazing.  It is the only system of its kind that autosizes items for you on coordinating images once you set a size of a particular item for a key.  (ie: if you pick a 7" album it will make all your embellishments the appropriate sizes for your pages automatically...NO CRAFTING MATH!!!  Check out my CTMH Laughing Lola book!  And get your Artbooking at heatherplotzke.ctmh.com

Fun Chantilly Layout

I wanted to make a layout that showed the free spirit of my great-niece Charlie.  Chantilly paper pack not only perfectly matches her personality, it coordinated as well with her outfits.

I didn't design this layout from scratch.  I bought a kit about a hundred and twelve years ago lol, from a store in Michigan that had some way 80 style papers with it (that nope aren't back in style and shouldn't have been then).  But the pattern and directions were great, and I had just never used them because I was turned off by the papers.  I gave my kiddos the papers to play with and then created this with Chantilly.  I love the results.

So keep your eyes peeled and be on the look out for ideas to scraplift.  You never know where your inspiration will come from.

Proplayer Layout from Big Picture Classes PJ Party

Okay so remember back July 31st when I encouraged you to take the free Big Picture Classes and CTMH Sponsored bi-monthly PJ Party Class....well I took the class and made the project MY OWN WAY.  I followed cutting directions just using CTMH's new ProPlayer paper pack, and quickly added My Stickease in addition to the Cricut Artbooking die-cuts. (More detailed photos at the bottom of the post after the directions).

In case you missed here are the direction breakdown for CTMH's version:

Creativity at a cost

Okay so I went on this fabulous scrap retreat this weekend in Fallbrook (thanks again Kay Pekin)!  Here are a couple of things I learned:

  • You really can NEVER pack too many accessories because that one bauble you leave at home is the one perfect thing that would complete your life and project.
  • Wow in just 2 1/2 days you can give your Creative forces an overhaul by feeding off the energy and talent of the others around you.
  • Keep a notebook handy because halfway through your event, your mind will be whirling with ideas and you will soooooo regret it if you forget even a single notion.
  • AND at 40 years old your body will make you pay for not sleeping for more than 3-4 hrs a night for 2 nights!!!!!!!!! BUT IT WAS SOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!
I promise I will post photos of all the projects I finished (and I did a lot) soon, but for now I need to go back to bed and yes I slept for 16 hrs last night AND then took a late afternoon nap today. Nighty nite!!!

My Creations Bracket Frame Chantilly Style

So we have a large photo wall in our house, and every once in awhile Kennedy mentions that she isn't on it as much as all our other kids.  I always say "well honey they've been alive a lot longer".  Truth is, as the fifth child, she just hasn't been taken to the photographer as much (she has been scrapbooked more).  To equal out some of my Momma guilt, I made this frame for her next pictures taken.

I used Chantilly Textiles to quickly cover CTMH's My Creation Bracket Frame (and I mean took about 5 mins including the ironing), by applying a  thin layer of modge podge glue direct to the frame and putting untrimmed, ironed fabric down on top of it.  Be sure to smooth out creases and air bubbles at this point.  When it dried (I came back after dinner and the kids' bathes) I trimmed the outside with small scissor, right to the edge, and then trimmed the inside leaving roughly a 1" mitered inside edge so I could pull a tight for a clean line.

I applied Clear Sparkle Flourishes (several of them cut apart to stretch their usage), and floral punches from Chantilly...which TOTALLY fits my Wild Child, Pink Lovin' Gal!!!!

Scrapping with my friends!

I'm sooooooo excited!!!!! My friend Kay Pekin, is the proud co-owner of the San Diego Scrap-Inn and guess who is heading up for a weekend of scraplovin', sleepless, manic craftin' FUN!!!!!

While I'm prepping for my big weekend, I was thinking about my last scrap-weekend at the Rabbit Hill Ranch, another local retreat owned by a close friend Tasha.  Well the last time there my Pals all went up for the weekend, but my husband was still deployed so I only went up for Saturday afternoon.  When I sent them a text message Friday night telling them to have fun, I also mentioned to save my comfy chair for when I get their. The next day I had the best surprise when I arrived:

Every person there had added something to this adorable sign that hung on my favorite spot! and on the back they all signed it.  I love my Scrapbooking friends.  So when people ask me what my WHY is, for WHY I am a CTMH Consultant they are my WHY.  These friendships I have made are priceless to me.  And seriously what could be better than collectly new lifelong friends while preserving lifelong memories!!!!!!!!!!

Project in progress hanger

Here is my tip of the day:
I saw this Laundry dryer item at IKEA (I love IKEA -- seriously so many super cool things oops sorry focus focus).  Okay so looking at this dryer hanger/toy organizer (that's what they told me) with its little octopus face, and I was thinking a card project hanger.

So yup, even with my husband making that face, you know the one, and shaking his head, I carefully and cheerfully placed TWO in our cart; well of course I had to get one for Dana--which is the one shown here by the way lol.  As you can see the work great, are pretty sturdy, and I think cost around $6.95.

Scrapbooking Mom

Okay so someone PLEASE tell me that  I'm not the only one that has ever done this! Anyone, anyone.
Scarily, I know I have instilled this trait into my children as well because my teenager who was watching my kids yesterday called me and said "Mom you aren't going to believe what ______ just did, ____ tipped over the toys bins on top of ___self."  I was of course was like OMG are they alright.  The answer I get back was priceless...."Oh yeah they're fine and don't worry I grabbed your camera and took pictures before I dug them out!"

Floral Photo Wall Hangings

I bought two Styrofoam discs recently at a dollar store in different sizes and then covered them with CTMH Just Blooms paper flowers after seeing this done at an art store several years ago. I randomly mixed the sizes and shapes of flowers, along with sparingly mixing in some yellow flowers too.  To glue the flowers down I used Liquid Glass (my ever ready go to glue for dimensional projects).   I added varied sizes of pearls onto the flowers.
I wrapped the outer edges of the foam with a double layer of yellow tulle.  To adhere the photos I used CTMH's foam tape in long outlining strips around the photos.  On a couple of photos I wanted to give added height, so I layered a second layer of foam tape directly onto the 1st layer.

I am thrilled with the overall outcome of these pieces. They perfectly showcase my niece Charlie's photos from her 2nd and 3rd birthday shoots...and my Mom will love them on her wall.

Rocking cute gift

So one of the room mate gifts I received at convention this summer was this super cute paper flower vase set from Dana Simone-Kurtz.  When Dana gave them to me there used to be chocolates where there is now buttons....hmmmm.  Not only where they rocking cute but ohhhhh so yummy.  Some how the candies didn't survive the Convention lol, but the the flowers did, so I re-purposed them with colorful, fun, mismatching buttons.

Love it!  Wouldn't this be such a cute teacher gift for the 1st day of school.
